Charme dance AI is the AI video trend built on the viral Seu Zé de Madureira clip from Rio. You drop yourself, a friend, a grandparent or a cartoon character into the main dancer's spot at the packed Pedra do Sal party while the crowd, the camera and the sound stay. People also call this trend baile charme AI, the Seu Zé de Madureira dance, the Pedra do Sal AI dance and the Van Damme charme dance.
The trend started on October 13, 2026, with 80s action-movie remakes that put stars in the floodlit square, Van Damme in a denim shirt among them. The Seu Zé clip landed on October 16, 2026. A one-photo template went up on October 18, 2026, and passed 238,000 uses by October 20, 2026. Tutorials followed in Spanish, Portuguese and English, with the biggest past 740,000 plays. On TikTok, #vandammebailando counts 2,054 videos and 9.1 million views.
The TikTok account @seuzerj posted the first clip on October 16, 2026. Seu Zé de Madureira, an AI-made grandpa with a white afro, round glasses and a red shirt with suspenders, out-dances a packed night crowd at Pedra do Sal, a historic spot in Rio. Its Portuguese caption, "Ninguém botou fé no vovô no baile charme", means "Nobody believed in grandpa at the baile charme". Filmed in one unbroken handheld take under tall white floodlights, the scene shows colonial facades, blue tents and the dancer in the white tank top and brown hat next to him. The post is 27 seconds long, and its first 15 seconds sit inside the template.
The dance is charme, born in Brazil in the early 1980s. Dancers groove with easy side steps, bouncing shoulders and loose hands. Many TikTok tutorials call it "retro Brazilian funk", but the moves belong to charme.

The original party sound plays from the first second. You hear the party's own music and the real crowd cheers throughout the clip. Many creators also add "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice from TikTok's sound library when they post their video.
Charme is the dance. The style started in Brazil in the early 1980s. Both charme and baile funk grew out of the 1970s bailes black, the Black Rio parties of soul, funk and R&B. Charme kept the smooth side, contemporary R&B and love songs, while baile funk went for fast, high-energy beats. TikTok tutorials call the trend retro Brazilian funk, but the smooth moves in this clip are authentic charme.
In Rio de Janeiro in 1980, DJ Corello gave the style the name charme. Rio's best-known baile charme party runs under the Madureira viaduct, held there since the early 1990s, and the city declared it part of its intangible cultural heritage in 2013. The viral clip is set at Pedra do Sal, a historic spot in Rio's Saúde neighborhood and a home of samba. The post says Seu Zé went for a spin at Pedra do Sal but grew up at the Madureira viaduct.
You get a 15-second vertical 9:16 MP4 video with the original party sound. You choose between 480p and 720p. Once you buy credits, your video comes with no watermark, ready to post straight to TikTok and Reels.
